Getting an equivalent of 23 points out of 25 in my ___exams, I thought I had everything laid out for my future. The only logical option for me then was to take up a bachelor’s degree in Law, since I’ve always been fond of subjects like History, Economics, Literature, and Divinity. To my dismay, I was offered an IT course instead. I knew nothing about Math nor heard much about programming, but seeing how it will take the load off my parents and how the government sponsorship can help me and my family, I relented. Though sidetracked from my original plans, this turned out to be a blessing in disguise. The IT world is where I truly belong. And before I fully realized it, I’ve been very fascinated about everything HTML and learning all the other details in website development. At 22, I want to further my skills and prove that IT is not only a man’s field. Even a young woman like me from western Uganda can help lead my country to change with timely IT-based solutions that will usher us into a brighter future.
