The blog Broke Grad Student was created by a former med student in order to share experiences and learnings from med school. In this blog, the writer talks about college loans and other issues about college students’ financial concerns. The blog also gives advice and tips on how to deal with money-related issues in college based on the blogger’s own experience.
The blog’s good points
One thing I like about the blog is its topics. The blog is actually very useful to many graduate school students who are in a dire financial situation. The entries and the tips given are practical. One can actually use these tips when they’re in a difficult situation. An example of a very useful entry is Building a Car Fund for College Students. This entry provides practical tips on how to build a car fund if you’re a college student. In terms of the writing style, I think it’s good. The writer is consistent with the writing style and tone. I find the blog easy to navigate. There’s not much problem when I am locating the home page or looking for the older entries. The blog is user-friendly.
The blog’s weak points
One thing I don’t really find impressive about the blog is its very simple layout. Although a simple layout makes this site easy to navigate, I still think that an excellent site should not be too simplistic. The design is also a bit boring. It’s obvious in the choice of design that the blog owner strives to render formality and a professional-look to the site. I guess it is not that bad since a formal appearance solicits trust from the visitors. However, I do believe there is still room for improvement when it comes to the design and layout of this site. A little more color and perhaps, a logo could add appeal to this site.

The Graduate School Blog talks about anything and everything concerning the College of Charleston. The blog contains a variety of entries ranging from the scheduled activities to bike protection tips. The Graduate School Blog is the fruit of collaboration of some students of the College of Charleston.
Things I like about the site
There are lots of things to like about this site. One is the design. The color of the site is refreshing to the eye. The layout is also good. It seems that the blog provides a lot of options for visitors. The blog actually gives me an impression that there’s so much to do in this site. Although there are lots of buttons you can choose, the site is easy to navigate. Another thing I like about the site is its content. The entries are written by different writers, but it’s interesting to note that the entries share the same tone. That is, they’re all exuding joy and enthusiasm. Reading the articles gives me an impression that the writers are really enthusiastic about their college life and everything concerning it. There are also images and photos that are very interesting as well.
Things I don’t like about the site
I think the weak point of the site is in its categories. I got a little confused about the category sections. There are actually two category parts I see in the home page. I just got a bit confused as to why this is so. What’s the purpose of the category part in the lower area of the site? Is it for older posts? If yes, then the blog should make it clear. Changing the label could remedy the problem. Aside from this one, I don’t see any major problem with the site. I think it is good; it just needs to be a little bit clearer when it comes to labels.

Veritas Prep is a GMAT prep and admissions consulting provider. This consists of instructors, students, and consultants. The blog was created in order for people to share their knowledge about standardized testing, graduate school admissions, and the business world itself. The blog also has the purpose of opening up the Veritas Prep community to new visitors. The blog contains a wide range of topics from how Veritas Prep was established to essay writing mistakes and GMAT myths.
Site’s strong points
One of the things I find excellent about the site is its content. The entries are intelligently written. The style and tone of the entries solicit trust from the visitors. I think the blog succeeded in rendering credibility to Veritas Prep. The logo also adds to the effect. The introduction regarding this blog on top of the page is also a good point. In this way, visitors would have a clear idea on what to expect from the blog. Another thing I like about the blog is its professional look. The simplicity of the design and its formality match the straightforward and formal tone of the entries. I would also give credit to the blog’s easy to navigate layout.
Site’s weak points
There are some things I don’t really like about the site. One is that it is too simplistic. The layout is good, but I still find it lacking. It is easy to navigate but I almost find it bare. I think the layout should be improved. The design should also be improved. Colors and images or photos can be added to put a twist on the site. Another thing lacking is the category section. For me, a category section is very important because it makes navigation easier and fast. I guess the lack of it can be considered a major drawback for the site. So, a category section should be created in order to make the site more user-friendly.

Educated Nation is a blog dedicated to students, mothers who have students, and everyone else interested in issues and concerns about education, career, graduate school, and college degrees. The entries are varied. Aside from news and updates on education, there are also tips and advice that could be very helpful to students such as the dorm room necessities.
What to like about the site
There are lots of things to be liked about the site. One is the simple and formal layout. The site looks neat, and this renders it a professional look. When I hover the cursor over the main title, the color changes from boring grey to attractive red. It is also easy to locate necessary buttons in this blog, which makes navigation a great deal easier. I also like the content; the entries are intelligently written. Aside from news and tips, humor is also one of the thing I find appealing in this site. The element of humor present in the entries make them fun to read. Unlike some blogs dedicated to education and career, this one is far from being boring. The photos and images in the site also contribute in making the site look very interesting. Overall, the site looks very inviting to new guests.
What not to like about the site
One thing I don’t really find appealing about the site is the title of the articles. I find the color of the font unattractive. If the writer wants the titles to be more appealing, why not make them a bit the same as the main title? Another suggestion is to make them change color every time a cursor hovers over them. I also think that the theme should also be changed into a more attractive one. Aside from these, I don’t see any major problem with this site.

The Career Doctor is a site dedicated to those who are seeking guidance for their career. The site advertises the services offered by the career doctor Randell Hansen. The site contains articles written by Hansen and ads of his services. Randell Hansen does not only offer advice regarding careers, he also offers advising services for college issues and problems. This site is dedicated to students, job-seekers, and those who want to advance in their careers.
What’s to like about this site
One thing I like about the site is its professional look. This factor is, of course, a big help in making the career doctor, Randell Hansen, more credible. The formality of the design encourages visitors to trust Randell Hansen. Aside from the design, the content also works in soliciting the trust of the visitors. The series of questions displayed in the page is effective in getting the attention of the audience. These questions urge the visitors to take time to uncover what this site could offer. I find the links embeded in the content helpful. The links would surely encourage visitors to navigate the site.
What’s not to like about the site
One of the things I don’t find interesting about the site is the design. Although the site has a professional look, it is not very attractive. I guess there are ways to make this site attractive and at the same time professional looking. One can make alterations in colors, for example. Another thing I don’t find impressive is the buttons. The buttons linking to the home page and other parts are just too small. A logo should also be added. I think a logo could also make the site much more interesting. The logo could also help the blog owner gain more trust.
